South East Youth Summit - What A Nigerian Youth Must Do Differently

What's Advocate Movement ?

The Advocates Movement is an association of law students of the University of Nigeria, with burning desires to effect positive changes on the global map, with Nigeria being its kick-off stance, as it is rightly said,‘ charity begins at home’. The Movement is strongly anchored on the cardinal values of humanitarianism and commitment with the aims of speaking out for the vulnerable ones, whose rights are being neglected and/or violated; helping the needy; enlightening the public; creating awareness on sensitive issues etc. Committed also is the Movement towards achieving the aforementioned. We the members believe that there is no age considered too young to make a valid statement that would stand the test of time.
In line with its vision of having a better Nigeria through the power of advocacy and commensurate enforcement, and also,  in line with our believe as members in the power of the youth to move any mountain in any given society, if given a great sense of belonging, and a safe platform on which to operate, the Movement is proud to announce its fourth-coming one-day Summit titled What a Nigeria Youth can Do
Differently, which is billed to hold on 28th February, 2020, at  the Main Hall, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus.

Objectives of the Summit

What a Nigerian Youth Must Do Differently is a program that seeks to fan the dying embers of the youth to flames, jerking them to the reality that there are many other stones unturned in this race of building the nation. This is a clarion call to all the youth to be innovative, pragmatic and agile in utilizing their talents, without placing limitations in their abilities and capabilities to be that very change needed in the transformation of our dearest country, Nigeria from what it is right now to what it ought to be.

Scope of the Summit

The Summit intends to have in attendance 30 delegates from each invited higher institution in the South-eastern part of Nigeria, namely; UNN, ESUT, UNIZIK, ABSU, EBSU, ANSU, IMSU, Godfrey Okoye University, etc. In view of motivating the youth and to spark up the fire of enthusiasm among them in changing the narratives of our country for good, there has been a call for submission of essay writings on the theme aforementioned prior to the summit. The top-3 winners shall be decorated with awards and cash prices on the day of the Summit. Of course, renowned resource persons will be invited to come and speak on that very day on various topics hinging on Entrepreneurial skills; The need for the youth to kick against violations of Human Rights; Youths and leadership etc.

What we tend to achieve through the summit

At the end of the summit, we are sure to enable the attendees to redefine their purpose in life for those threading on the wrong path, guiding them through the
steps of appropriate decision making. More so, they will be more knowledgeable of their human rights, bearing in mind that their rights stop where the rights of
others start. Also, we will mould youths who are not just existing but intentionally and purposefully impacting on the various areas they have or would carve niches,
with the zeal and boldness to uphold the lawful and advocate against the illegal.

Conclusion

As earlier mentioned, this Initiative is for the betterment of Nigeria as it seeks to give hope to those whose hopes of attaining a higher level of excellence, and making a difference seem to have been shattered. It is our aim to encourage the spirit of enthusiasm, and also dissuade every form of mediocrity amongst the Nigerian youth. Thus, the outcome will be a step into a better tomorrow. We hereby humbly call for sponsorship and partnership to enable this dream come through. The official bank account details of the Movement is provided below.
