First Semester Examinations: "Don’t Take Your Phone Inside Exam Hall" – ESUT Warns Students
Ahead of the commencement of the 2024/2025 first semester examination on Monday, March 3rd, 2025, the management of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) has warned students against going into examination halls with their phones.
The Registrar, Mr Ambrose Ugwu who handed down the warning noted that on no account will students be found to be in possession of phones inside the examination halls.
The University Scribe admonished students to ensure that they kept their phones outside the examination hall as failure to comply will constitute examination malpractice.
“You don’t need to go into examination hall with your phone. If you are going to write examination, drop your phone outside, when you are done, you pick it and go home.
“When you are writing exams, are you going to answer calls? Why must the phone be with you in the hall? It is against the ethics of examination and once you are caught with a phone inside examination hall, you are guilty of exam malpractice,” he said.
Mr Ugwu further reminded students of the law banning wild and excessive celebrations at the end of examination in Enugu State and advised the students to be circumspect in their actions and not run foul of the law.
“Again, the state government has passed a law that once you finish exams, don’t loiter the university with noisy celebrations, carrying vehicles and hanging on them, there is a law in place now and we don’t want our students to fall victims.
“We are here because of you, you are our children and we are your parents. You see us more often than your parents and it is our duty to ensure that what brought you here must be achieved.”
The 2024/2025 first semester examinations will commence on Monday, March 3rd through Friday, March 21, 2025.
